not to be a lost Hammer film after all! |
On the
same day that DD Home Entertainment announced an
exclusive deal with Sony Pictures to release 13
previously unreleased Hammer films on dvd, another of
Hammer's Columbia co-productions has surfaced.
Hammer's
1962 film, A Weekend With Lulu has been widely
thought lost and highly sought after for many years. The
film appears to have last been screened on British
television in the 1970s, and after that disappeared.
That has
changed as of yesterday, when television station TCM in
the US and Canada screened A Weekend With Lulu at
9am. The little seen comedy stars Bob Monkhouse, Irene
Handl, Sid James, Leslie Phillips, and Shirley Eaton,
and was directed by John Paddy Carstairs.
The
screening is sure to have passed many Hammer fans by,
and TCM do not currently have the film rescheduled for
future screenings. Fans in the US that want to see the
film again should use TCM's online form here:
